Trinity Gay‘s family released a statement Monday on the 15-year-old rising track star’s tragic death, and asked the public to pray for the three suspects accused of shooting her. Trinity Gay is the daughter of Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay.
Trinity Gay was shot in the neck Sunday after being caught in the crossfire between two cars outside of a Cook Out location in Lexington, KY.
“The family appreciates the outpouring of support during the loss of our beautiful Trinity. She will be truly missed by all,” reads the statement. “She touched so many people on so many different levels. We ask for your continued prayers and privacy during this difficult time.”
The statement also gave attention to the three men charged in the shooting.
“We are a family that believes in love and forgiveness,” it reads. “We are also asking for prayers for the 3 men accused and their families during what is also a difficult time for them.”
